The Survey For People Who Make Websites

Earlier today, one of our favorite online publications released their annual web development survey. The webiste in question, A List Apart, writes amazing articles about all kinds of things - project management, new CSS techniques, web philosophies, and much more.

Today, ALA just released their 2008 survey for web design professionals. The survey spans several aspects of being a web developer - from skill sets to salaries, and it'll be interesting to see the results.

Last year, over 33,000 people took part in the survey, but this year's findings will probably be far more popular. Want in on the action? If you are in the web development industry, we strongly urge you to take the survey. If not, you should check out the results from last year's survey.

New Projects, New Positions

The last week has been pretty busy at Spearia. We attended Innovation Michigan and we also decided that we will now be hiring a new Front-End Developer and a Web Application Developer. But wait! There's more!

In the midst of it all, we wrapped up development on the website for VK Properties, a commercial property and land management company. We built the site using Wordpress as a CMS for most of the site, with a Ruby on Rails backend innterface for online property management. Check it out and let us know what you think!

Innovation Michigan 2008

Today we took part in an exciting event held at the Grand Valley campus in Grand Rapids. The event, hosted by the West Michigan Business Review and titled "Innovation Michigan 2008," showcased thirty-five Michigan based companies with innovative ideas. Spearia was one of those companies, chosen from hundreds of nominations across the state.

While we didn't make it to the winners' circle, we did have a great time. Furthermore, we met with many amazing people. It felt great to be a part of the event, and we are honored to be recognized for our hard work. Many thanks goes out to all who attended and stopped by our booth. Who knows...maybe we'll see you next year!
